Seasons of Dead Water
Summer rains bring sunshine warmth
But such signs just poorly augur
For ending rains mean wind-blown leaves
And a happiness forced to wander

I tread along once beaten paths
 Now disarrayed with brown color
 With solitude my only friend
 Of loneliness, I grow fonder

 Stagnant sorrow walled in wells
 Obscures my thoughts forever after
My summers are now little else
But putrid seasons of dead water
