Curtain at Eight
You take your place center stage
The lights go down
The audience falls utterly silent
They’re waiting for you.
Waiting for you to show them someone else:
A beloved character
A single spotlight is barely visible through the curtain.
The excitement burns within you,
Fighting against those nerves for dominance.
This is it.
Rehearsals are over.
Costume fittings, mic checks:
All done.
It’s your time now.
Take one last deep breath
And utter that last prayer.
The first note is played.
The curtain opens.
You feel yourself slip away,
And the character overtakes your entire being.
Let the magic begin.
