The Day the Snow Left
For five long months
The snow came down
On simple, fun Vassar
A quiet little town
People were stricken
With cabin fever
And of summer
No one was a believer
Then one day
The people woke up
They stretched and sighed
With their coffee in their cup
They looked outside
To their utter surprise
The snow was gone
And the sun was a-rise
They dropped their cups
And screamed with joy
Everyone ran around
And yelled, "Oh boy!"
The message traveled
As far as the line would run
From friend to cousin to
Mother, Daughter, Son
When the people tuned into
The local TV-5
They could see even the anchorman
Were doing the Jive
a parade was formed
Down the hill they marched
People yelled with joy
Until their throats were parched
All schools were cancelled
Along the way
In order that everyone
Could celebrate this day
This extreme climate change
Blew up the charts
No one could figure it out
Just by their smarts
The weather got hotter
As if rebelling against all rules
Some people even started
Opening up their pools
But soon it was so hot
Everything was sticky
People were uncomfortable
Because it was humid and icky
Soon the temperature rose
Above one hundred and seven
People no longed looked
At this event as heaven
All joy was gone
When it reached one hundred and ten
People were wishing
For the snow again
Then all of a sudden
Out of the blue
The temperature started dropping
All the way to thirty-two
The snow began pouring
Out of the sky
The people screamed joyously
And began to cry
They all ran inside
And snuggled up cozy
They started a fire
To warm up their "toesies"
People now are grateful
For cold snow because
They found they like the weather best
Just the way it was
Now all was well
As good as can be
But I liked that weather hot
Between you and me
