Dust
Life gives more reason to fear
Than death
And I’m amiss
Estranged in skin
For you, for you
A sweet kiss, lips of silk
My fingers throb against
And I am vacuous, save you
From smile to core
All come up short
Our tender rapport
And it’s unhealthy, and necessary
My breath is cold, and my lungs ache
Each gasp -- absorbing -- inhaling
All of it, your blood warms
Circulate me, within me
Kindle my fragments and illume what remains
Patch it, stitch me up and fold me in your draws
Take me out when you remember, and shake out the dust
