O Leaf
Why do you fall from me, just letting go?
You leave the trunk to face the cold alone
How do you help your maker from the snow
When you are on the ground all on your own
Why do you release me and choose your fate?
For everything I did you go betray
Choosing, sever bonds and obliterate
I provided life and you took it away
While I’ve been here you have flourished and grown
Your trunk still stands without me by your side
My job is done; you can stand on your own
Our time was fun but now we must divide
While I shined in the sun, it was for you
But now the sun has set and mine did too
