Food on the Table

December 9, 2008
By Anonymous

I sail across the
iron waters
Without giving in to my
fears

no

her fears
Let her carry that burden
while I stay
strong
and
resolute
Because
I am man
I am husband
I find islands that once held life
Before waters submerged the beauty
Dive

Dive

Dive
Deep down
into the waves of death
Pray the spirits don’t notice
I remove pebbles from the eyes that once saw light
and polish the dulled life
into beauty again

A treasure

A gift of love
That becomes nothing more or less
than a useless luxury for
aristocrats
Pillaging life for
money

A disgrace
But it feeds those waiting at home

I enjoyed reading your poem. It has great literary devices. Good job Joe G.
