A Thousand Times Over

in the nights of winter fall
a message left for me
empty a chill a call for more
unable to reach the sea

locked up and sealed
a message for you to decode
my hands are tied
my thoughts are borrowed

as I scream for you
a name in which you never hear
hopelessly invisible
a ghost as I appear

no matter how many times
I tell you you’re my four leaf clover
you forget to trust me
again and again, a thousand times over

deserted and lost
unable to tell east from west
the sun may rise
as the sweat drops from my chest

disoriented and out of place
beckoning for someone to come
dehydrated and empty
delusional from the sun

no matter how many times
I feel like our souls are closer
you forget to love me
again and again, a thousand times over

it comes to a time
so close to giving up
I tumble time and time again
in the pool of your slipup

on the final day
with lack of your sight
a situation too common
a situation far too trite

no matter how many times
I battle with my furor
you forget to love me
again and again, a thousand times over
