Money
Anywhere you go, you’ll see it, the
Brilliant fuel that drives
Capitalism.
Damp and tattered at its ends,
Euphoric to any who possess it.
Fully reliant on it now, your only
Goal in life is to obtain more.
Happiness is
Interwoven with it after all,
Just a few thousand more is enough, right?
Knotting up inside you, the
Lust for
Money is ceaseless, and
Nobody else around you feels different
On the matter.
Perfection can easily be obtained, with no
Questions asked.
Rolling the dice, you
Struggle
To hold on to the money you’ve
Utilized.
Vile is the nature of it, yet
Without it society would fall out of balance.
X-cept for
Your bare dignity, its grip has torn you of all else, like stripes from a
Zebra.

I wrote this piece during my Creative Writing class. We were told to write an Alpha Poem, a type of poem that has line breaks based on the alphabet. I hope any who read this poem will get their own personal comprehension of what it means, but I'm sure the vast majority will draw connections to capitalism and/or modern society.
