Bulletproof
She sits there
Her barbies in hand
Trying to block out the yelling
The arguments
They aren’t anything new
Soon she cannot take it anymore
She tires and she tries
To forget the arguments
But she moves into her closet and cries
When all is silent
She picks up the blond doll,
Wipes her eyes
And carries on
She won’t let her mom see
The tears that she cries
Or the fears that she hides
Because she will remain strong
