Waves Roll In
The waves roll in, the waves roll out
Calmness and relaxation sweep over me
The swoosh of the waves coming to shore
Rejecting it but always coming back
The waves roll in, the waves roll out
Seashells line the beach
I swoop down to collect a whole family of them
But they sure do hurt my feet
The waves roll in, the waves roll out
Leaving sea creatures behind them
Fish wriggling for water, crabs burrowing in the sand
Seaweed drying out in the sun
The waves roll in, the waves roll out
Grab a bucket of wet sand
Build a sandcastle and admire it
Before the waves slowly wear it down
The waves roll in, the waves roll out
Chilling on a towel on top of the sand
Toasting my skin with no sunscreen
Lobster red and full of regret the next day
The waves roll in, the waves roll out
Children testing out the water with their toes
Teenagers just trying to look cool
Adults reminiscing on past beach memories
Surf’s up
The waves roll in, the waves roll out
This time I go with them
Laying on my purple and blue boogie board in the ocean
Waiting patiently my body craves
For the best of the best rolling waves
