Daddy's Calling,
'Come home sweetie,
it's late at night,
this is the time I need you
more than ever.'
Daddy's Calling,
'How many times do I need to tell
you not to do that!
Why aren't you successful?
What do I do with you now?'
Daddy's Calling,
'I think I'm gonna go head out for a beer, hope you don't mind,
I'll see in a few.'
Daddy's Calling,
Daddy called,
But, I never picked up.

The author's comments:
I've had many friends who have told me that their fathers never talk to them or don't really pay attention to them unless they need something from their daughters. In this poem, I wanted to indirectly portray a father's figure in a daughter's life; an ignorant father who asks for things when he desperately needs it. The father asks, but the daughter knows all too well that she's really not wanted by him, so she chooses not to pick up his message.
