Where the Popcorn Never Spills
Tis a small, privately owned cinema
where men still fasten themselves with bow ties
and the women are adorned in evening gowns
and the popcorn never spills
and the ushers show patrons to their velveteen seats
with poise
and the picture is breathtaking
and the movie always wins the accolades of its year.
Tis my Cartesian theater
my favorite locality for loitering and
socializing and dreaming
when my camera lens fixes on an otherwise cruel world
but the clock welcomes the matinee.
