Steps

What to say but nothing? What to do but sit still and listen to deaths foot steps slow and steady they beat as pulse. Slow and steady, they further themselves towards me. I say nothing about them, for it will only quicken their steps and run frantic my family. I have nothing to do but wait for death and hopefully God's final judgment, not his, hoping for an ending in eternal peace, but for now, I still wait, opening my ears and closing my eyes, listening for his steps.
