The Pigmentation of the Leaves
The pigmentation of the leaves
Began to fade from green
To bloody burgundies that stained
Autumn’s enchanting scene
The whipping winds had dealt their blows
They ripped the leaves awry
The orange, yellow, rusty reds
Fell swiftly from the sky
Their corpses crunched under my feet
Before I could enjoy
The canvas painted forest-wide,
Innocently destroyed
Their lives cut short by nature’s grasp
Fates wrongfully controlled
By those who don’t deserve to see
Their elegance unfold
