Today, on tar-black roads, there will be a parade
Today, on tar-black roads, there will be a parade
of roaring machines twirling dull fumes in their wakes
Today, humanity will see what mess they made
There are children sliding over magnesium salts sprayed,
standing cold on sidewalks, not knowing as they shake,
Today, on tar-black roads, there will be a parade.
Of billowed smog that rise and cover with shade,
lonely city skylines that appear to ache;
Today, humanity will see what mess they made.
Even though protesters of DAPL are forbade
to demonstrate, we should remember for our own sake;
Today, on tar-black roads, there will be a parade.
Despite crooked politicians being paid
to declare that climate change and global warming is fake,
Today, humanity will see what mess they made.
On streets candied with cigarette butts and increasing centigrades,
flying banners of plastic bags and filled with falling March snowflakes
Today, on tar-black roads, there will be a parade.
Today, humanity will see what mess they made.
