The One who Got Away

I lay
awake
at night,
my thoughts of him.
His eyes,
a rain cloud.
His smile,
a rare beauty.
His heart,
a locked up prison.
He talks to me
as a keeper
of secrets.
He unlocks
his world
to me.
But
I stand
alone.
His eyes,
hers to stare into.
His smile,
to her only.
His heart,
hers to break.
I
am only
a friend.
