Flood
You can see where the water swallowed the land,
You can see a whole where the road used to be,
You can see remnants of windows and siding where old homes used to sit happily,
You can see where the lightning struck,
You can see missing tree after tree,
But the most pain comes from what you don't see,
It comes from missing lives and homes,
From people with all their property gone,
And the faded smiles of everyone who lost something they loved,
The water has stripped them of many things,
But as time passes by it is evident that it cannot take their courage,
Or their will to go on,
Though the water has knocked them down,
They now stand strong,
United as one they have proven they are stronger than the flood.
