Lipsticks & a Barbie-brain
  She waited to be
  called to duty
  She looked radiant
  in an embroidered white blouse
  It was nothing too messy
or too hard or too silly
  They looked past her
  She didn’t register
  on their radar at all
  Girls giggled and whispered
  in the corridors,
  where heavily perfumed fumes
  washed over her
  Only storms flirted
  with her shamelessly
  Danger lurked
  along her pathway
  She felt like a premature
  newborn in an incubator
  She faked interest
  Everyday she transformed herself
  into someone else
  Everyday she watched
a water drop cling to the faucet
  and then lose its grip
  There seemed to be
  more empty seats than usual
  Now Right now
  She found comfort in
  scribbling on her pad furiously
The only place she was happy
  She couldn't imagine
  how she would survive
  with this Barbie-brain
  so she finally
sunk her rowboat full of lipsticks
  Her smile returned
