The Deadly Mile.
Run.
Run.
Run.
Run.
Four entire Laps.
It hurts.
It burns.
You want.
To Stop.
But, You can't.
If you quit.
You quit.
Yourself.
Don't do that.
Don't beat yourself.
Because if you can.
Then.
So can everyone else.
Don't.
Let THEM pass you.
Especially on the last lap.
The Last Lap.
Sprint.
Run your heart out.
And then, Finish.
Run.
Run.
Run.
Run,Finish.
The Mile.

This is very good. I like how the short lines sort of illustrate quick breathing when running. I relate to how competative you are, but I am no athelete, more of an academic...lol.

heey, thanks for commenting on your work, but i have to say, i have the flip side. i wish i could write a poem like this. about something like the mile. none of my poems mean anything other then hurt.. mostly.

and hey, i SOOOOO know this feeling!! lol.

at least.. i used to. now i love to run.. lol.. like 5 miles... lol. but it is perfect. totally catches the mood.
