God be with
God be with those who forget their gifts
Those that cast them out as if they were strangers.
God be with me
A man who has only done the same,
Pined for the skills of others
And stared in contempt when they
Were far more brilliant than I.
I desired only to be as others
To be better when I was as needed,
When my skills were mine
And unique to me.
God have mercy
On the generations
Of young brilliants
Screaming to be one another.
The ones whose brilliance
is unmatched
Those who deserve to know;
We all are brilliant
We all are beautiful
We are what we need to be
And that’s more than enough

What inspired me to write this piece was seeing how many brilliant kids there are around me that bad mouth their gifts.
