&quot; If you want to be happy, be.&quot;<br /> -Leo Tolstoy

There’s a thousand little dramas
Floating ‘round each city street
A thousand bursts of creativity
Behind every busker’s beat
A thousand curtained windows?
They hide tiny tragedies.
And a thousand days of past birdsong-
Each note held by the trees
A child’s squeal holds all the zeal
Of a thousand triumphs small
A thousand laughs and tears are held
Inside each theater wall.
School desks hold insecurities
(Minimum one thousand and five)
And cemeteries? You know this-
They hold a thousand lives.
A deep love for
The human race?
Seen a thousand times
In a happy face.

I constantly feel overwhelmed by the beauty of untold stories that surround us. This poem was an attempt to communicate that.

&quot;You ever notice how the drizzle in the night looks looks the fuzz in the TV screen?&quot;

This is one of the better poems I've seen on this site, there is actual exploration of imagery and themes. Reading this I did not have to deal with melodrama and the oft abused clichés of our peers.

What will you do with your one wild and precious life? - Mary Oliver

I agree! New Yorkers are citizens of the world- we see stories everywhere.
