Winter in the Eyes of a Child
The long, grey, and gloomy winter is seemingly endless.
It mends us into sadness and drains our souls
only holes in time and space, when something arises,
not appealing at first, but full of prizes.
It starts to rain flurries and flakes,
lifting our spirits and freezing the lakes.
We play and laugh until dinner,
but our faces still shimmer with smiles and our hearts glitter with bliss.
It’s peace at last when I climb into bed.
A kiss on the head and the lights go dead.
