December
There’s a simple reason why I’m crying.
Why saltwater streaks my face.
This is how it feels for everyone.
At least that’s what they say.
It was a cold, dark night in December,
When you took me by the hand,
And said that you were leaving.
“You’ll never see my face again.”
The frosty flakes fell from the sky.
Snow drifts covered my body as a whole.
Unanimated snowmen stared for hours.
Black coal eyes burned into my soul.
There’s a reason why I feel so constricted
When it reaches this time of year.
Since you left me broken in the snow,
It will remain an un-drying tear.
