Our Moon
This sultry heat is something to be savored
With the taste of summer berries it is flavored
So succulent and ripe do they hang waiting
In the heavy haze the sun’s creating
When we reach out to pluck them and they burst
And smear us with reminders of our thirst
Their colors dye our mouths, like roses, seeping
With juices that awake our throats from sleeping
And we will flush upon our gazes meeting
The pinkness of the moment hot but fleeting
Anticipating more than just the act
But the pleasure waiting for it lacked
In the violet of the night that drapes our shoulders
We will shiver in the air, a little colder
And chase the fireflies that prick the night
With their golden points of fairy light
You can see the sickle moon? At us she smiles
She saw us here, but waited for a while
I’ll wave at her in thanks, and you wave too
For it was she who chose to give me you
