Broken

I tried using Scotch Tape
To repair my broken heart
But it wasn’t strong enough
So it fell back apart.

I tried using make-up
To cover up the scars

But sometimes I let them show because
They remind me of who you are.

I tried using hot glue
To put my bones back together
But soon they’ll be in pieces again because
Glue does not last forever.

I tried using staples
To stitch up my chest
But the metal rusted
So I took them out to rest.

I tried using my brain
To think of a clever plan
But you outsmarted me
Before I ever began.

I tried using my body
To show you what you’ve done
But you did not care,
You said it was good fun.

I have taken the hits.
I have taken the pain.
I never believe when you say,
“It’ll never happen again.”

Because of you,
I remain broken.
Because of you,
I remain open.

Thank you and to all who have commented. It means a lot.

I have taken your suggestion into consideration and I have started a new poem, a companion/sequel called (right now) Healing.

Thanks again for commenting!

Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.” - Shel Silverstein

I love this. I wish there was more. I feel so anxious. Is she gonna be okay? You should make a sequel! :3

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of Gods great love, we are not consumed. His compassion never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

This is really good. I think you should definitely keep writing!

This shows how hopeless it seems, sometimes, to mend after a heartbreak, but how it can change us, as well. Amazingly done.

Nothing Less.

This was really good. The calm attitude by which such dark thoughts were expressed was effectively eerie. Loved it. :)

I liked the rhyme scheme and the story is not the sugar-coated stuff that others will force down your throats. I enjoyed it!

Rely on the rabbit's foot if you will, but keep in mind, it did'nt work for the rabbit.

amazing, felt like there should be more, like a sad story that I wished would possibly end in a happily ever after, but frankly, knew it wouldnt. Bravo !
