Waitin'
Waitin’
There I was,
Sittin’ on the front porch,
Waitin’,
Waitin’ for him to be a comin’ home.
Ma was in the kitchen cookin’ up some supper,
She was a cookin’ all right
Cookin’ like there ain’t no tomorrow.
She was a waitin’ for pa to be back home to her.
It had been a long and hard eleven months,
These eleven months seemed like years.
Pa was gone
Gone to fight the Indians.
Now pa had been gone before this;
But never had he been gone for this long.
Oh cactus! How I have been missin’ him,
Him home, I can only imagine!
Rowdy starts a barkin’,
The cows are a mooin’,
I look yonder down the street,
And what do I see? PA!
Pa comes runnin’ down the street,
We meet in a hug, and run inside the house.
I had never seen Ma’s face so lit up and bright,
Than when my Pa walked in the door, and gave her a huge kiss.
The dinner was all ready,
The table all set,
The people all here,
Now all that’s left is to eat!
