The Illumination
In the darkness of my heart,
 I wept alone.
Broken in all, not in part,
 I was alone.
No light to illuminate the dark,
 I walked alone.

 I cried out,
 The silence roared.
 I wanted out,
 The silence consumed.
 The life I dreamed about,
 The silence scorned.

 Then reached out a hand,
 My soul did fly.
Led me to the Promised Land,
 My soul was relieved.
A journey vast as the desert sand,
 My soul was saved.

 I cried out, the Savior heard;
 I was free.
I belonged as a sheep in His herd,
 I could breathe.
A recipient of the promise in His Word,
 I did sing.

 The gift of everlasting life
He paid for with His blood.
 No more unending night -
 Jesus died for me.
 I basked in Heavenly sunlight,
 Because He saved my life.
