How It Came To Be
The pen runs out of ink,
my hand begins to freeze.
It's time to grab a new sheet
and begin to write as I please.
Today was not so good,
but tomorrow will be better.
Now I must hurry out the door
and find a warmer sweater.
I ran to the market
as fast as I could.
I brought my little list
like I knew that I should.
Now I must race home
to begin this again.
I left my heart in the books,
Right where it's always been.
Today I won't give up.
To this, I promise you.
Now my pen shall dance again,
and in the shade of blue.
