Song of Esther
In the ancient Persian Empire,
There lived many righteous Jews.
But the evil, evil Haman
Who advised king Achashverosh,
He decreed the Jews as poison,
Said they had no right to live.
In that time the king of Persia,
In his drunken state of mind,
Killed his wife whose name was Vashti,
Ridding Persia of an empress.
Then the mighty king of Persia,
Understanding his bad act,
Started searching for a beauty,
For a wonderful new queen.
In that time there was a rabbi,
He lived peacefully in Persia,
And his name was Mordechai.
Mordechai helped Jews in Persia,
He guided them through Jewish life.
Mordechai was a good Jew,
But he only had one niece.
His niece’s name was Esther,
He loved her very much.
They lived together happily,
And followed God in all their deeds.
No woman in the empire
Was beautiful as Esther.
Without the jewelry and make-up,
She exceeded all the rest.
Her hair was black as ebony,
Her face was white as ivory.
Soft-spoken and gentle,
She was the kindest soul around.
The king sent out his loyal servants
In the search of a next queen.
They went across the empire,
Escorting every lady,
To their master, to the king.
Esther went like every woman,
Having secret plans in mind:
To be uglier and pettier
To insure she wouldn’t be queen.
At the palace she was careful,
To follow all the laws of God.
She ate only nuts and berries,
Because of kosher laws.
But miraculously happened,
She was chosen to be queen.
For her all her beauty and her splendor,
And the kindness she gave off.
And the mightiest Queen Esther
Started fighting for her people.
She saw the king without his scepter
And asked for mercy for the Jews.
Esther fasted for her people,
She asked God to save the Jews.
She drew her bow at Haman,
And cried profusely for his death.
The king did execute old Haman,
Promised safety for her people.
Achashverosh loved young Esther,
He loved the beautiful, brave warrior.
He loved the beautiful, brave warrior
Who saved her people from bad Haman.
Saved her people from bad Haman,
Who decreed the Jews as poison,
Said they had no right to live.
