If you ask me to look ahead, I’ll always look behind
If you ask me to open my eyes, I’ll pretend that I am blind
If you ask me to help you, I’ll pretend I didn’t hear
If you ask me to stay at home, I’ll ‘magically’ disappear
If you ask me to tell you how you look, I’ll say that you look bad
If you ask me to stay happy, I’ll be depressed and sad
If you ask me to be diverse, I’ll blend in with the crowd
If you ask me to do my best, I’ll never make you proud
If you ask me what changed from when I was eleven,
I’ll say, “Mom, It’s teenage rebellion.”
