Memory
  That breath of sweetness
  Lingering in the air
  Where once the lover stayed
  Where once the music played
  Now stands a sapling splayed.
  That swell of emptiness
  That engulfs a kingdom
  Where once the blue-jay rose
  Where once the forest froze
  Now stands a ruined prose.
  That waning glimpse of color
  Echoing faded life
  Where once the shadows danced
  Where once the rainbow pranced
  Now stands a fog entranced.
  The obscuring shadow of things
  That have since disappeared
  Where once the laughter shone
  Where once the gentle tone
  Now stands a deathly moan.
