Dying heart
I would call it unexpected but I’d be lying,
The truth is, I’ve known it since the day I met you,
Even though my heart wished for something else and kept hoping, foolishly.
You were never going to stay,
They all told me about a million times each,
But I kept dreaming, hoping, wishing and trusting
Separation is a law of life they say,
And perhaps I can cope with a physical separation,
Possibly a broken relationship too,
But how do I mend and deal with this separated and dying heart?
