The Loner
He was always there
He never was late
No tardies at all
Always a clean slate

No one saw him
No one bothered
No love of a mother
Or even a father

Peaceful days
Quiet nights
He never fussed
He never would bite

Only one bed
One single book
His own little room
His own little nook

No friends
And no enemies
His reflection
His only company

Never laughed
Never cried
Always calm
Always satisfied

No girlfriend
No wife
No love at all
A simple life

On his grave
When life was spent
Only four words
He came and went
