queasy
moths flutter when you kiss me and i know
this is supposed to be a joy ride
and you make me happy, you do.
you really do.
but the steady rhythm of our lips
open, close, nose to nose
following the anxious beating of our hearts
just makes my stomach flip upside down
am i supposed to like this or not?
i like you a lot. possibly love.
maybe someday.
once, you tasted like dark chocolate and that's one of my least favorite foods
but i loved tasting it on your tongue
bittersweet, like the moment we pull away.
and the way your pupils grow when you look at me
"isn't that supposed to mean something?" you said.
flutter, flutter. my heart beats to a drum
a nervous percussionist at his first performance.
i know i'll come around to loving you
and when i do,
will i like it?
i certainly hope so.
