Dad, I’m bisexual.

He says, “No, you’re not. End of discussion.”

I say I am, not knowing what the consequences will be.

You look at me with disappointment in your eyes.

You looked at me like you’ve never looked at me before.

Mom says you’re old fashioned and believe a man and a woman should be together.

But she thinks the same way.

You guys say “we support you no matter what”

But right after you would say “we wouldn’t like it though”

Like that makes it any easier for me to come out to you.

It’s not like I chose this.

I like who I like and that’s not my fault.

Remember dad when you started asking me about my bisexual friends?

You said, “maybe you should try hanging out with new people”

Or when you said, “being like ‘them’ is no good and won’t lead to anything”

How can you say that when there’s people getting married to the same sex?

How can you not accept them when all they want to do is be happy with who they love.

How can you say all that when you know subconsciously I am bisexual.

I tried coming out before but backed out because of all the rude comments you would say.

I try to make you happy everyday of my life but nothing seems to work because you’re always disappointed in me.

Well.

Add my sexuality to your list of reasons to be disappointed in me.
