Country Like That
You’re not country,
You can’t be.
You have the accent,
And the truck,
And the four-wheeler,
And a gun,
And a deer,
But you’re still not country.
You sling girls like you sling mud,
Then pick them up and tell them they’re beautiful.
You tell her she’s the one,
But soon,
There’s another.
You don’t even respect your own brother.
You’re not country,
Because country is respect.
I could stoop to your level, or even meet halfway,
But I’m not going to,
Because country doesn’t roll that way.
