Soccer
The whistle blows,
the game begins,
the tension is high
as the pain just starts.
The coaches yell,
the bench cheers, and
the fans roar
as you play.
The opposing team advances
while you look for a player.
She draws near,
but that does not stop you;
you defend with no fear.
With one swipe you grab the ball,
pass it forward
and end the draw.
Your teammate dribbles up
as you stand by
knowing your coach is satisfied.
As the game continues
the scores stays tight -
it is now 5-5.
You know it is now or never
as you steal the ball;
you dribble up with power
just to advance the ball.
Your teammate then hears you shout;
she passes it over and you take a shot.
The ball goes high over the goalie with ease.
When you hear the whistle
everyone cheers with glee
for a defender scored.
Hip hip hooray!
