I wish I’d never met you

It’s too hard to forget you.

I left, but I before I did I had felt like you were already gone.

We were so caught up in love that we lost each other.

I lost my best friend.

You became my everything, the best part of me.

When I lost you it felt like I had lost myself.

I see you now.

How much you’ve changed.

I wanted so desperately to get you back,

But I know if I did, nothing would be the same.

I guess it’s just what we had that I want back.

That feeling.

Passion, affection, desire.

It felt so good.

I was typically numb. When I was with you I could feel.

I don’t regret loving you, I regret losing you.

I lost you in our love.

@Kitty_Count Thank you so much for your feedback, and regarding this sort of situation, just know that it does get better. It's hard to know what the right thing to do is, but just go with your gut and fight through. Don't get yourself down saying that no one will ever love you or you'll never find someone else, because love is infinite and even if you don't have someone to show it to you, you have yourself.

I really love your poem. I can 100% relate - in fact, I'm going through that right now. Please keep writing, it's amazing.

Well, my 5x great-grandfather was a Mohawk, so it's sort of distant, but I certainly feel it, if that makes any sense. And I'm from Connecticut, but I have family in near the Finger Lakes.

That's amazing! I most likely know some family members of yours. Do you live in Akwesasne?

@AlinaLee Wow, really? I'm descended from the Mohawk of the Iroquois Confederacy.

Every word is filled with such emotion, this is beautiful. Keep writing! Also, what Native American tribe are you part of or descended from?
