Wet World

It’s a wet world.
and I keep thinking I hear voices downstairs
but they’re really just the wrappers of memories left crumpled and
wrinkled
on the floor of the kitchen.
sloshing rain
is also slick against the walls of my bedroom–
which are silvered and greasy,
and I’m canned here,
a sardine:
stuffed in this forever box
by damp thoughts,
It really is a wet world.
