You Gave Me Purpose
It kills me
to see you in pain
All I’ve ever wanted for you
is happiness
and I try my best to provide
but it’s not enough
I’m never enough
I stare at the burns
and scars
from the searing pain in my chest
and the strain on my lungs
when I took in
more water than they could hold
But as long as your lungs
were not full of air
I would keep breathing
because I was meant stay under the waves
to keep you above the surface
and my only hope
is that by the time I sink
you’ve learned to float

This was inspired by the first person that gave me this sense of purpose that I had been lacking. I realize now that it was unhealthy, but it was was a big stepping stone in my life.
