Driving To No End
Chilly nights, sunny days, snowy mornings, dark afternoons.
Just driving with friends,
Having no specific destination.
Not having a care in the world,
The outside problems dissolving into the fluidity of the music.
Squinting your eyes which are accompanied by joyful tears
while your lips get stuck in the position of an upward curve.
The love within the air,
The warmth within the car,
The emotion within the laughter,
The inspiration within the music.
They are all what makes driving worthwhile.
Then the phone rings.
The arrow almost on top of the bolded E.
Reality sinks in,
The problems resurface.
The music is slowed and is blurred in the background.
The clock almost midnight.
And the adventure and the serenity comes to an end.
