Duke
Starting off ever so fragile
Cute as a little teddy bear
So small in age
Who knew he could cause so much rage?
Growing like a weed
Double the size in under one month
Gaining a little mind of his own
Beginning to bite more than the bone.
Showing subtle signs of misbehavior
Running through the cornfield
Who knows if he finds a way out?
Making his owner pout.
Going potty where and when he pleases
Biting like a little alligator
Pretending not to hear commands
What will we do with this scoundrel?
My he is large like a baby elephant
Maturing ever so fast physically
The mind still has some work to do
What will we do with you, Duke?

This article encompasses my mixed feelings for my dog that has grown very large and quite rambunctious.
