War
No one was ready
But looking at it know
The smoke rising
Shots rang out
Drawing first blood
Our home is gone
Our old life demolished
The city burning down
People fell
Crying and screaming
For loved ones
As life faded away
We were once a peaceful land
Welcoming
And kind
We helped and cared
And we never thought war would come
But I guess we were wrong
Because
The war came
