Secretly Breathing

To me writing is mandatory
It's keeping me alive
Just like respiration
I need it to survive
When I feel overwhelmed
As if I am soon to drown
I use writing as therapy
An attempt to calm down
It's not just some words
That all fit into a line
It is a thousand emotions
In a few words aligned
Now pay close attention
Try not to misconceive
When I tell you that to write
Is how to secretly breathe
