Hearts and Words
After every song is sang
And every story told
The only thing left on the stage
Will be my heart
In every word I sang
And every question asked
All these things share a home
That home is my heart
I’m bad with words
Straight from the heart
So I put them here
Where I can change them
Refine them
Improve them
I put them where the world couldn’t see
So they’d be ready for the world
So I’d be ready to show the world
But now I’ve shown them
I stand here
With my heart on the stage
Out in front of me
It’s there’s now
I can’t control what they do with it
Maybe they’ll listen
Maybe they won’t
Maybe they never cared at all
But Maybe
Just maybe
My heart will find a home
Maybe it’s that magical place I call home
Maybe it’s that place where I spend my nights thinking
Maybe it’s the one person willing to listen
And maybe my heart’s home
Is right there on the stage
Right there for the world to see
Maybe my heart’s home is me
If only I knew
