Better in Memory
Staying up late until the early morning,
Sun rays through the window wake me from the hour of sleep I had.
Talking to you all day long when I should’ve been taking notes was a highlight.
My smiles radiated through the halls like they had never done before.
The first time we hung out and watched a movie was something I’ll never forget,
I won’t forget all the beautiful songs you wrote and all the music you sent me,
I won’t forget waking up and smiling as I saw a text from you.
I won’t forget all the play fights we had as we teased each other.
But I also won’t forget that you would leave me on read,
That you started getting distant,
Lying to me.
I won’t forget when you said you had something with your family but then
I saw you out with your friends instead.
I won’t forget when you started getting more and more distant,
And how you started flirting with another girl.
I won’t forget how you ended us while I was sitting in the bleachers,
Talking about how excited I was to hang out with you.
It was better in memory.
