Truth in Conflicted Conviction
Gifted with life
Cursed with knowledge
Made to be what I am not
An eternal conflict strikes the soul
As humanity and deity fight to claim me
Blood spoils as sins rot
Transgressions deadly
A noose around my heart
The only thing hung is a man on a cross,
A man who I need to be, and who I am not
I am a slave to my nature
And water alone cannot atone
I am a slave to my savior
Freedom was promised,
Yet there is no happiness,
And nothing was promised.
What is the truth
And what are the lies
Am I lying to myself?
Or is my mind scrabbled,
Torn—dehumanized.
