Abyss
I walked alone before the earth --
ashen land and textureless life.
The buried planet beneath my feet --
struggling to breath --
struggling to live.
The barren tundra of my mind pulls me forward --
step by step --
mile by mile.
The numbing light drowns my eyes --
like a creature of the abyss --
like a child of the night.
I am exposed and unwanted --
weathered by the wind and dissolved into the earth.
I am free -- in the blinding white of day -- I am free.
