Why I Love Running
Because my feet caught fire.
Because they lifted, landed, pumping harder and harder, fueling the blaze, drumming rhythms, engraved within my soul,
Because a flaming power ignites, one I never knew I had,
Because the bits of sky come falling down and land between my toes, going faster, faster, faster,
Because the pebbles fly and mountains crash beneath my feet,
Because I’m lifted up into the open air,
Because I’m dizzy,
Because the heart, pumping blood and sweat that’s forming oceans, squeezed and released and thumped and broken down all over again,
Because it sends me flying,
Like nothing else ever does,
I’m flying, on honeycombed wings,
Soaring to the heavens, I’m
free.

I really love running, and in this poem I describe why, as well as how I feel during that process. Running is something special to me, and I hope to continue it all of my life.
