I am No Bird
my face is dotted with freckles from the sun
my hair is dry from years of heat products
my nails are ragged from nail-biting habits
my thighs are striped with white lines from stretch marks
my self-esteem is destroyed from hours of comparison
my mind wants a perfect picture
flawless skin, straight hair, toned stomach
I am caught in a cycle of impossible expectations
but I am no animal
nothing can hold me down
I am no bird
no net ensnares me
